Why Alderman Matter To You
The Somerville Board of Aldermen writes the laws of the City, known as City Ordinances. They approve the City budget, they make the decisions on issues such as the future of the Powder House School, and they confirm the mayor’s appointments to the boards and commissions
City Ordinances matter to you – they dictate where you can park your car, when the streets are swept, and how much you are fined when you don’t put the lid back on your trash can. They may not be very exciting but they make a huge difference to your day to day life.
Their control over the planning process also has a huge impact on what happens in your neighborhood – what sort of shops come in, what sort of buildings are constructed, and mix between residential and commercial development.
Finally the Somerville boards and commissions affect a wide range of activities – from bicycles or arts, condos to libraries, and recreation.
The Aldermen even have a voting seat on the School Committee and so have a very direct role in education.

How To Help Todd Win
Winning is a team effort – so is being an effective Alderman.
There are many ways you can help:
The most valuable is by connecting the campaign to new people and groups throughout the city. Spread the word about my campaign among your friends and neighbors. You can forward this blog post.
We also need people to volunteer for a variety of tasks, including organizing, promotion, writing, fundraising, etc. before and during election day. We will need people on the day of the campaign to hold signs, get out the vote and make calls.
Finally, please consider making a campaign contribution. The health of our democracy depends on giving voters choices, and that means funding campaigns.
